Update #5 on Barry Northcutt
October 29th, 2018 News 3 Comments

Both Mom and Dad slept for about 4hours at a stretch last night (Saturday 10/27) and until about 12 noon today (Sunday 10/28) his pain was the lowest it has been – around a 7. Dad was able to eat a full breakfast and livestream part of our church’s morning service. Around 12 noon his pain spiked again up to a 9+, but we are super excited with the increasing lengths of time that dad is going with reduced pain. We still have a long ways to go and the pain is still not under control, but he is getting closer each day, slowly but surely. After the better morning, his pain leveled off around an 8 for the remainder of the afternoon and evening.

Dad’s appetite was great today as he ate 3 full meals plus snacks in between. He has lost a lot of weight and is still very weak and unstable on his feet, so we are excited to see him be able to slowly begin to build up his strength again.

I am amazed as I have watched Dad each day deal with this intense headache pain. His strength and resilience are incredible as he quietly endures the pain and yet still finds a way to make the occasional quip and light-hearted comment to others. What a joy and challenge it has been to me to look over and see my Dad reading his Bible on his phone as he is able.

Please continue to pray for Dad’s pain levels to go down and stay down consistently. He has had a much better day overall today because of the rest he has gotten. Tomorrow starts the radiation again and with the extra movement and activity always comes more pain.

Please pray also for Mom for strength and rest. She has been faithfully at Dad’s side since he went to the ER last Sunday a week ago, and now it seems like all the adrenaline that was carrying her through is finally wearing off. Now that Dad’s pain is not as intense and he can rest more, please pray that Mom will be able to rest as well so that she can continue to take care of Dad as needed.

We don’t know your Dad, but we are praying for God to take the pain away and for a complete healing. Also praying for strength for your Mom and the rest of the family.

Seeing as your son, Elliot, is part of our Sudany School class, we had a speial prayer time where we prayed for your Dad, as well as your Mom (we explained to the boys that she has Lime Disease and that the stress of your Dad’s illness could affect her health as well). Thoughts and prayers for the entire family.
