Summer has now ended and fall has arrived, bringing with it rain and cooler weather, with temperatures already dropping below freezing at night.

The Lord blessed our summer VBS outreaches with great attendance in each location and we are excited to see how the Lord will work in the hearts of the kids through the continued Sunday school ministries. In case you missed them, you may read about the VBS outreach in each of the four locations by going to the News section of our website.

After the conclusion of the VBS outreaches, we were able to take advantage of some of the beautiful weather and go hiking on two separate occasions in one of the most beautiful places in Siberia — the Stolby Nature Preserve, which is known for it’s amazing natural rock formations. The first time, we went with our Sunday school kids, and the other time was with a deaf couple from our church and their grandson.

Ministry Opportunities

Last year we began taking lessons in Russian Sign Language in an effort to communicate with deaf in our church. Due to other obligations, I had to stop my studying; however, Katie has faithfully worked on it and is now able to communicate very well using Russian sign language. Her heart is burdened for the deaf population here and we are excited to see how the Lord will open up ministry opportunities. The deaf who faithfully attend our services are excited and look forward to coming each time. This is an untapped mission field in our city, and we covet your prayers for this ministry.

A Look Ahead…

On September 22, our coworkers, James Dean and Kevin Jones, and I will be taking a preliminary survey trip up north to the town of Vanavara to determine the possibility of a future church-plant in that town. Vanavara is one of three administrative centers for the Evenki region with a population of approximately 3500 people, with over 20 nationalities and ethnicities represented. The trip is planned for a total of 5 days, and we will return to Krasnoyarsk on September 26. Please pray for our safety in travels and for wisdom as we seek the Lord’s guidance and direction concerning a future ministry endeavor in this region. A full report will follow at the end of the month, following the conclusion of our trip.

Furlough Plans

The Lord has blessed us with an almost full schedule of meetings for our upcoming furlough. We only have a few dates left open, so if you would still like to have us come and update you on our ministry here in Siberia, please contact me as soon as possible via the following e-mail address:

As always, we truly appreciate your faithful prayers and support of our ministry.  We are honored to be your representatives to the people of Siberia.
