“So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.”

~ 1 Corinthians 3:7 ~

Much has happened in Corner Brook over the past few months for which we can praise the Lord. We know that your faithfulness in prayer has made a difference.  While we have not seen much visible fruit, our responsibility is to faithfully sow the seed and water it and leave the results up to God.

Elliot was burdened to invite one of his friends from cadets to our John 3:16 Sunday in March, and he and his mom came that service and have only missed one Sunday since!  Since then, their entire family has come multiple times, and it is very evident that God is working in their lives and drawing them to Himself.  Please pray for their salvation!

In April, we began a monthly Youth Night for grades 7-12.  The kids have faithfully invited more friends from cadets and most of them have come for one or more youth meetings!  Please pray that the Lord will use this to build relationships and reach these young people with the Gospel.

Towards the end of the month, Pastor Charles Surrett came and preached a 4-day Bible conference from the book of Job.  It was well-attended by our people and the messages were a tremendous challenge and help.  A huge thank you goes to our sending church, Emmanuel Baptist Church, for paying the way for Pastor Surrett to come be with us!  It was truly a joy and blessing to have him here.

The end of May was our annual Ladies’ Retreat & Outreach and, Katie, again, did a phenomenal job  with the planning and decorating!  Every year this event has grown and this year was no different with record numbers for both days!  The Lord used the fellowship with Mrs. Rachel Harrison to be a personal encouragement to Katie as well.

This past Sunday, June 29, we celebrated the 4-year anniversary of Grace Baptist Church!  Pastor Boyd Stansford and his family from Marystown, Newfoundland were our guests for the day.  They provided special music and Pastor Stansford brought two challenging messages to our church.

The next big event on our summer calendar is our Family Fun Day Carnival on July 26.  This is held in conjunction with the city of Corner Brook’s annual “Jigs & Wheels Festival.”  Our church will have 10 carnival-style booths with games and prizes, and I will do a short magic illusion show to present the Gospel.  We would ask you to please pray fervently with us about this event that we would have good conversations about the Gospel, and see visitors come to church as a result of this outreach.

Family Updates

Elliot is excited to be working at our local Canadian Tire for the summer.  He applied for a summer job to several different places, and the Lord rewarded him with the job that he wanted the most.  He also had the chance to compete in the cadet biathlon provincials in June and placed fifth in his age group.

We found a great violin teacher for Kara this past year, and she has progressed very well!  In June, she had her first violin recital and did an outstanding job.

Both kids have been active in cadets this year and, the Lord also opened the door for me and Katie to be on the parent committee for their corps.  Please pray for open doors to share the Gospel and minister to the cadets and their families.

Katie and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary in June with a stay-cation while the kids spent a few days with Katie’s parents.

This month, we are planning a quick trip to the States for Katie to be in the wedding of a dear friend.  The timing works out for the kids to attend Camp Barnabas at Ambassador Baptist College at that same time; so we will be taking both our kids and two of our nieces down with us.  Please pray that the Lord will use this time at camp to work in their hearts and strengthen their personal walk with God.  The Saturday after we get back from this trip is when our Family Fun Day Carnival event takes place.  We would greatly appreciate your prayers for physical strength and wisdom as we prepare for, and host this outreach to our community.
