October 2025 Prayer Letter
A cozy fireplace mantel adorned with a warm, autumnal decor. The mantel features a large wooden sign spelling out "thankful" in the center. To the left, there is a vase filled with vibrant orange flowers, accompanied by a small stack of round wooden coasters. Above the mantel, a framed sign reads "HE still is good" in elegant handwriting. To the right, a small owl figurine and a decorative lantern with a candle inside are placed. The scene is bathed in soft, golden sunlight, casting gentle shadows and highlighting the stonework of the fireplace below.

“ …God…giveth the increase.”

~ 1 Corinthians 3:7 ~

This past summer has been the busiest period of ministry that we have experienced thus far.  Yet, through it all, we have seen the Lord work in amazing ways and we are excited to share what God has done here in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.

We mentioned in our last prayer letter that Elliot was burdened to invite one of his friends from cadets to our John 3:16 Sunday in March, and, as a result, the entire family has been faithfully attending services since then.  After months of prayer and answering questions, Katie and I had the privilege of seeing the mom, Debbie, put her faith and trust in Jesus alone for salvation after a Wednesday night service!  It has been such a joy to see her excitement and desire to grow.  She has jumped right into everything that we do as a church — outreach, events, cleaning, etc.  She has been a huge blessing to Katie personally, and an encouragement to me as pastor.  Please continue to pray for the rest of the family for salvation, and for Debbie as she continues to grow in her walk with the Lord!

We had also asked you to pray for our Family Fun Day Carnival at the end of July.  The Lord blessed that outreach by holding off the rain, and by bringing several hundred people through the event.  The Gospel was clearly presented three different times throughout the day, and reception by the community was overwhelmingly positive.

In August, our family attended a week-long retreat in Ottawa with other Canadian missionaries with our mission board.  Many of us serve in remote places around the country, so it was great to fellowship and spend time with one another.  In September we started back with our monthly Youth Meetings, and they have been well attended with around 12-14 youth each time.

Earlier this month (October), we took part in the annual Colours of Corner Brook Festival, welcoming the largest cruise ship of the season to our city.  The Lord gave us a beautiful day, and we were able to distribute over 800 Gospel postcards, many cups of hot chocolate, and at least 20 Bibles.  We also had a larger interaction with people in the community than in years past, which was tremendous!

We have also had a steady stream of visitors at church over the summer months.  Many have been from out of town, but it is encouraging that they are able to find our church easily through our online presence.

Family Updates

Elliot’s big news for the summer is that he is now a fully licensed driver!  He passed his road test and completed his driving school, and now he is driving himself back and forth to work (this is a great blessing to Dad, especially when he works the closing shift).

As of September, both kids have started back to school, music lessons, and cadets.  Katie and I are also on the parents’ committee for the sea cadets, and we are praying that the Lord will continue to open doors of ministry through this involvement.

Both Elliot and Karalyn are a huge part of the ministry here.  There is much that they do behind the scenes that is not known, but we could not do what we do without them.  Recently, Karalyn has also been taking on more of the piano playing at church, and Elliot has been helping with the kids Sunday school.

Upcoming Ministries & Outreach

From now until the end of the year, we will have multiple outreaches and events that we would ask you to pray with us about.  On November 22, we will have our Ladies’ Wreath-making Outreach.  This event is always well attended, and we are planning for 30-35 ladies this year.  The Corner Brook Christmas Parade is December 6, and we are planning to distribute ~3000 packets.  December 10, is Christmas Caroling at one of the retirement homes here in Corner Brook.

On top of all of this, we are also in a particularly heavy time of ministry with counselling and personal ministry.  We covet your prayers for wisdom, as well as for physical, emotional, and spiritual strength.
