“For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.”

~ Psalm 86:10 ~

The month of August has flown by as we wrap up our final month of furlough travels.  As was mentioned in our last prayer letter, we had to extend our furlough time because we were waiting on our immigration documents to come so that we could return to Canada and claim our permanent residency.  We are excited to share that God has answered prayer and we now have those documents in hand and we are planning to be back in Newfoundland on September 8!  We would ask that you please continue to pray for us as we finalize our plans, packing, and documents needed for our return.

Although we did not plan to be in the States this long, the month of August has been a time of encouragement and refreshment for our family as we have been able to spend a little more time with our family and supporting churches.  The Lord also provided meetings with four new churches, and we are praying that the Lord will provide the extra support that we need to live and minister in Newfoundland.

This month, we had a missions team from a supporting church in Connecticut go up to Newfoundland and spend time working with both Grace Baptist and New Hope Baptist.  Although we had planned to be back in time to to host the group, we are thankful for the O’Brien family’s work to host them and preparing for their short time of ministry.  The missions team did an excellent job of preaching, singing, and being involved in our summer outreach program, and they were a encouragement and help to the ministry in our absence.

Both churches are away at summer camp this week, and we are encouraged to hear the reports from those who were able to go.  Please pray that the Lord will continue to work in the hearts of those who are there and that lives will be changed through the preaching of God’s Word.

Family Furlough Updates

We have enjoyed a little extra time with family during the month of August. The kids, especially, have enjoyed some extended time with their younger cousins and great-grandparents. A highlight of this month for all of us was our visit to the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter in Kentucky.  A  family at a supporting church graciously provided tickets for the Creation Museum and the church provided the tickets for the Ark, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visits to both places.  We are all ready to return home, and are excitedly counting down the days until we can be back with our people and the ministry that God has given to us.

One thing we would ask you to pray with us specifically about is an opportunity to purchase a newer vehicle before we return to Newfoundland.  Because we are claiming permanent residency when we go back, we have a unique opportunity to bring in all personal belongings tax and duty-free, including a vehicle.  We have an opportunity to purchase a good, used all-wheel drive vehicle at auction this week (our current one is just 2-wheel drive), but there are a lot of things that must fall into place for that to work out.  Please pray that the Lord’s will would be done concerning a new vehicle.

Thank you for upholding us in prayer and financial support.  We are truly grateful for your partnership in the Gospel and count it a privilege to be your representatives to the people of Newfoundland.
