“Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done…”
~ Psalm 40:5 ~
I apologize for the delay in sending out a prayer letter. This summer has been one of the most intense seasons of ministry we have faced, but it has not been without it’s blessings.
At the end of May, we rejoiced as Debbie followed the Lord in believer’s baptism. She continues to grow by leaps and bound, and we continue to pray for the rest of her family’s salvation. June was busy remodeling our church space with new paint and carpet tiles as we prepared for our church anniversary Sunday at the end of the month. The Lord allowed our sending pastor, Jim Ogle, and his wife Lisa to be with us as we celebrated the 5th anniversary of Grace Baptist Church on June 28. Pastor Ogle brought two very timely messages, and our family was personally blessed through the fellowship and fun that we had with them during their visit.
At the end of July we hosted our Family Fun Day Carnival outreach for the third year in a row. We had several hundred people come through during the course of the afternoon, and many heard the Gospel presented through three different Gospel magic illusion shows.
August was teen & family camp on the east side of the island, and we enjoyed a great time of fellowship and preaching with the other independent baptist churches on the island. When we returned from camp, we started our door-to-door outreach and distributed about 1600 Gospel packets to homes in Corner Brook. We are about 500 addresses away from completely canvassing our city, and I think we will be able to finish it before the weather changes.
In the midst of all of this, our family has been personally involved with a young mother who has been in our life for over a year. In the last few months, she has gone back to a life of addiction and substance abuse, and we have had to intervene multiple times to provide care and safety for the baby. We would definitely request your prayers for wisdom and strength (physically, emotionally, and spiritually) as we try to do what is right and help this mom and baby. Sin is no joke. The devil is real and wants to destroy. We have been face-to-face with this reality every day for the past few months.
Despite the burdens and cares of the ministry, the Lord is faithful and continues to uphold us by His grace, giving us encouragement and strength when we need it the most. Just recently, a little 7-year old girl who has only been coming to Sunday school for a few months told Katie, “Mrs. Katie, I never knew God existed or knew anything about Jesus until I came to church!” Please pray with us for this little girl’s salvation! God is at work, and we are blessed to be labourers together with Him (1 Cor. 3:7-9).
Family Updates
Elliot starts the 11th grade this year, and Karalyn starts 9th grade. Both kids continue to be a huge help in the ministry, and we thank the Lord for their servant’s heart. One particularly special blessing for them this summer was that a young man from Ambassador Baptist College came for a week-long visit to deliver care packages and spend time encouraging them as MKs. As an MK himself, he wanted to do something special to minister to them, and we are thankful for his investment in our kids.
In July, Matt & Elliot flew down to Washington, D.C. to help the D.C. Gospel Outreach Team distribute gospel literature to the thousands of people who were there for the many festivities and celebrations. This was a missions trip idea that Elliot heard about last summer, and he worked and saved to pay his own way to go! It was a great father-son trip and ministry opportunity.
Furlough Announcement
Looking ahead, we are making plans for a short furlough at the beginning of 2027. The Lord allowed our paths to cross with Jim & Myra Wright whose ministry is specifically furlough relief for missionaries, and after meeting with them, we are excited to have them come and fill in for us while we are gone.
Our tentative plans right now are to leave on January 10 and be back sometime the week of May 2. We will be available for meetings from January 17 through April 11. We already have a few meetings booked, so if you would like us to come and share a report on what God has been doing here in Newfoundland, please contact me, and I will do my best to try to make it work with our travels and schedule. You can reach me by email at info@northboundnorthcutts.com or on my cell at 709-214-7000.
Unfortunately, because our time is so short, there is no way possible to visit every one of our supporting churches at this time. In spite of that, we will do our best to try to visit as many of you as possible.
