“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may have free course…”

~ 2 Thessalonians 3:1 ~

Thank you to all who have faithfully prayed for us and the ministries here in western Newfoundland over the summer and into the fall.  The Lord gave us some wonderful opportunities to minister to our community and spread the Gospel.

This summer saw us complete the first phase of our community outreach program here in Corner Brook.  Our people have been stepping out in faith, giving above and beyond their tithe to missions outreach, and because of their giving and involvement, Grace Baptist Church was able to mail out 1500 flyers and follow up with door hanger packets on every one of those addresses!  While the numbers are exciting, it was even more encouraging seeing our people get excited and involved in the outreach!  By God’s grace, we plan to do the same next summer (or more), until we reach all 15,000 addresses in Corner Brook.

Over the summer and into the fall, we had a number of cruise ships dock in Corner Brook.  Some were here for just a few hours, and others were here for an entire day.  The city of Corner Brook held a fall festival for one of the Princess line ships and our church was able to set up a booth and distribute tracts, Bibles, hot chocolate, and candy to the passengers and crew (about 5000 people total on the ship).  Throughout the day, we were able to pass out over 600 tracts and 10 Bibles, and we had meaningful conversations with most of those people.  This was truly an instance when the world came to us, and we were excited to be able to give out the Gospel to these people, many whom we will likely never see again.

We continue to have interaction with several of the Ukrainians who have resettled in Corner Brook, and God has kept the door open to continue to minister to one family in particular.  We recently attended a birthday party for one of their boys, and we are praying that this friendship will continue to grow so that we can have opportunity to share the Gospel with them.

Looking Ahead

In just a couple of weeks, Grace Baptist Church will again take part in the annual Christmas parade here in Corner Brook.  We plan to have a float decorated around the theme of “God’s gift to the world” and our goal is to hand out 2500 packets with tracts, candy, and church information.  Please pray for us as we build the float, and as we walk the hills of Corner Brook along the parade route.  Please pray for visitors to come to church as a result of this outreach.

The city also reached out to us about doing some Christmas carolling at City Hall during the month of December.  We plan to be involved with that, as well as helping New Hope Baptist with their Christmas on Main Street event in Stephenville.

The O’Brien family will be back from furlough the first week of December, and we will be glad to have them back.  We are looking forward to fellowshipping and helping each other as we each focus on reaching our communities with the Gospel.  Please pray for their travelling safety back to Newfoundland and our travel back and forth to Stephenville each Sunday until they return.

Thank you for upholding us in prayer.  Many of you have reached out to us over course of the summer to let us know you are praying for us, and that has been a tremendous encouragement as we have labored over this summer.  We are truly grateful for your partnership in the Gospel and count it a privilege to be your representatives to the people of Newfoundland.
